Urinetown is a hilarious musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics and musical theatre itself! It centers on a town facing a water shortage, which has led to a government forced ban on private toilets. Urinetown is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). Urinetown was produced on Broadway in September 2001 by the Araca. Group and Dodger Theatricals in association with TheaterDreams, Inc., and Lauren Mitchell. The videotaping or other video or audio recording of this production is strictly prohibited
