Fish, Fish, and More Fish By the Mountain Home staff

Elsewhere in Mountain Home, we wrote about George Daniel, local fly-fishing celebrity who competed in the world championship in Finland this summer, but there’s another championship bout being held nearby. Fishing Creek in Clinton and Centre counties was chosen as one of four venues for the World Youth Fly-Fishing Championship, scheduled for August 3 through 10. The Little Juniata River and Lake Perez, both of Huntington County, and Spring Creek, also in Centre County, are the other three. The competition is sponsored by International Federation of Sport Fly Fishing, the same body that held the Finland championship. Anywhere from sixty to a hundred young fly-fishers from all over the globe are expected to compete here, and it’s the first time the event has been held in the United States. Daniel is expected to coach in some capacity and Adam Pickett a Penn State student from Reedsville, Pennsylvania, will be wetting a line in the event.
