Mountain Chatter
Pooches Parade for a Home at PA State Laurel Festival
Wendy Reber, owner of the Artisan’s Shoppe in Wellsboro, and Tracey Timmons of Mountain View Kennels have conspired to bring about a new plan of action for getting lonely dogs adopted. Reber said they were chatting one day about their involvement in the Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries (SCAS), lamenting the number of dogs still without homes. “The dogs need to be seen and touched to be adopted,” says Reber. She then suggested that they create “Adopt Me” cloaks like the ones she had seen at the Greyhound Pets of America in Largo, Florida. Artists at the Shoppe and friends made the capes that the dogs will wear in the PA State Laurel Festival Pet Parade. Interested adopters will be able to identify them easily by their colorful cloaks and to meet the dogs one-on-one afterward, ending, it is hoped, in a quick and easy adoption.
